This Thursday, 27 October, the Fundación Banco de Alimentos de Madrid (Madrid Food Bank Foundation) was held at its headquarters in the capital, the Colegio de San Fernando. The Foundation thanked a number of companies and institutions that stood out for their important collaboration and solidarity with the Foundation during the years of maximum need 2020 and 2021.

Transfesa Logistics has been one of the companies recognised for its work by ceding the use of storage space to the Madrid Food Bank in its logistics centre located in Alcalá de Henares.

The collaboration began before the pandemic caused by Covid-19, specifically in January 2020. After the onset of the social crisis in March of that same year, Transfesa Logistics reinforced its support for the Madrid Food Bank by providing the foundation with additional areas to store the stock of products received for the campaign that was launched due to the health emergency situation. In addition to collaborating with the logistics department of this organisation in the distribution routes, in order to deliver these resources to the different charities in the Madrid region.

The agreement between Transfesa Logistics and the NGO was maintained continuously throughout 2021. Throughout both years, 2020 and 2021, a total of 750 tons of food from the Food Bank were stored at the company’s facilities. Antonio Martos, manager of the Alcalá de Henares logistics centre, and Julia G. Navarro, director of the Legal Department, secretary of the board of directors and member of the Transfesa Logistics Management Committee, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
