Transfesa Logistics, as a founding partner of the United Nations Global Compact in Spain, has updated its Responsible Business Policy, defining it within the framework of its 10 Principles and the 2030 Agenda.

The Transfesa Logistics Group has participated in the United Nations Global Compact’s SDG Ambition accelerator programme and has done so with the aim of identifying new priority SDGs based on the challenges to which the Group’s companies can respond.

The Spanish company has redefined its policy in the March 2022 edition (edition 1), in which it has updated its priority Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Development Goals (SDGs). Following the fulfilment of the action plan for the contribution to SDG 4 Quality education, SDG 8 Decent work and economic growth, and SDG 13 Climate action, they have now put the focus on SDG 5 Gender equality, SDG 12 Responsible production and consumption, and have renewed their commitment to SDG 13 Climate action.

The Transfesa Logistics Group carried out the first definition of its Responsible Business Policy in 2019, setting out its commitment to sustainability in a document that placed ESG (environmental, social and good governance) issues at the heart of the company’s decision-making.

With this action, the Spanish group became a pioneer by becoming a founding member of the United Nations Global Compact. This is the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, and Transfesa Logistics’ first Responsible Business Policy was drafted within the framework of this initiative.

“We focus our efforts on the SDGs that we identify as priorities. If all companies defined the objectives of their sustainable strategy based on the SDGs, we would achieve them much sooner, as the focus would be on the most pressing needs and efforts would be united for the same purpose. In this way, we committed to act on 3 SDGs, an action plan with concrete targets was defined and successfully implemented. Once that stage was completed, the need arose to redefine other SDGs to work on”, Isabel Núñez, Environment and Sustainability Manager at Transfesa Logistics.

In order to achieve the new priority SDGs, the company has defined a 3-year strategic plan (2022-2024). The new Responsible Business Plan will make it possible to develop sustainable criteria as a transversal principle of the organisation and integrate them into the business strategy. This will demonstrate the commitment and contribution to the continuous improvement of the Transfesa Logistics Group’s activities.
