On World Environment Day, Transfesa Logistics announces one more step in its commitment to a sustainable future. The different actions that the company has implemented to reduce the CO2 emissions associated with its activity and its commitment to the fight against climate change are recognised with these badges.
The Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge has granted Transfesa Logistics the CALCULO (Calculate) seal. This badge recognises that the organisation computes its carbon footprint and is on the path to reduce CO2 emissions associated with its activity.
Coinciding with World Environment Day, the company highlights the importance of this seal, which reflects its commitment to a sustainable future and the actions it carries out to achieve it.
Amongst the centres that have obtained the “2018 Seal” are the Almussafes warehouses, the company’s headquarters, located on Calle Musgo (Madrid), the terminals of Constantí, Granollers, and Portbou, as well as the La Roda logistics centre. In these cases, the direct and indirect emissions included in the Ministry’s registry refer to aspects such as electricity consumption, among others.
In addition to this, the main headquarters (Madrid) and two of its facilities, the Almussafes warehouses, and the Constantí terminal have also been recognised with the “REDUZCO” (Reduce) badge for the 2018 financial year, after prior registration in the corresponding section in the carbon footprint’s Registry, offset and carbon dioxide absorption projects.
This second badge accredits the different actions that the company has launched in the annual period of 2018 to reduce the emissions’ intensity. Among them, for example, is the change from luminaires to LED technology at the Madrid headquarters. These facilities are also carbon neutral with respect to their electricity consumption, since their source of electricity is 100% renewable.
For Isabel Núñez, Environmental Manager at Transfesa Logistics, “The CALCULO and REDUZCO (Calculate and Reduce) seals highlight the company’s commitment to sustainability and the continuous improvement of our environmental performance.”
As a founding partner of the United Nations Global Compact in Spain, the company defines a responsible business policy within the framework established by its 10 Principles, in order to lead the transformation to achieve the 2030 Agenda without leaving anyone behind and putting a special focus on SDG 13 of “Climate action”.
Furthermore, actions to reduce CO2 emissions are aligned with the objectives of the Green Deal, which seek to curb the effects of climate change.
