The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge has awarded Transfesa Logistics Group the 2018 and 2019 Carbon Footprint Seal. The first one sets the precedent and the second constitutes the first update.
Transfesa Logistics takes another step in its commitment to become a 100% sustainable company. The Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITERD) has awarded it the 2018 and 2019 Carbon Footprint Seal. The first of them is established as a base while the second represents the first update.
The logistics operator has carried out, for the first time in the history of the organization, the global calculation of greenhouse gases (GHG) associated with the activity of the entire Group, which includes its three scopes: direct, indirect, and other indirect emissions. Thus obtaining a detailed inventory of its emissions. Based on this report, an action plan has been drawn up to implement measures to reduce and offset GHG emissions, which will allow the company to advance on its path to net-zero within the framework of its strategic environmental project “ECO2PIONEER ”.
For Isabel Núñez, Environmental Manager of Transfesa Logistics, “this distinctive endorses the initiatives that the company has implemented in recent years to reduce C02 emissions, in line with supporting the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, especially with SDG 13 on climate action. As an environmentally responsible company, we continuously work on the implementation of measures to mitigate our carbon footprint as much as possible, which is why obtaining this recognition in the form of a seal makes us especially proud, as it highlights our efforts in the fight against this climate emergency, as well as our commitment towards carbon neutrality”.
It should also be noted that, coinciding with the “European Year of the Railroad”, Transfesa Logistics defends the role that this mode of transport should play in providing customers in different sectors with an eco-friendly logistics chain. In this sense, the company promotes an intermodal network where the train is the main axis of national and international routes. This commitment to low-emission express shipments is widely accepted, as is the case with the CoolRail route Powered by Transfesa Logistics that is increasingly in demand by the northern European markets to receive fresh fruits and vegetables from the Spanish garden in a sustainable way.
