The company allocates necessary additional storage space in the facilities of the Alcalá de Henares industrial park due to the increase in food donations during the state of alarm. These products are destined for more than 500 associations of vulnerable groups in Madrid.
The collaboration between Transfesa Logistics and Madrid’s Food Bank is reinforced to deal with COVID-19.
Along with the coverage that is provided on a regular basis, the logistics operator provides, free of charge, all the space that is necessary in its facilities in Alcalá de Henares for these special circumstances in which they have intensified their aid work. With this storage, they can have additional areas where they can deposit the stock of products received for the campaign that they have launched due to the public health emergency situation.
The Transfesa Logistics team manages the loading and unloading of trucks, the registration procedures in the control system, and the storage, within the packing conditions established for this type of merchandise.
The Food Bank subsequently organises the distribution of stocks, essentially milk, cookies, pasta, and packaged items, among more than 500 associations of vulnerable groups in Madrid.
In addition to this, Transfesa Logistics is collaborating with the logistics department of this organisation on distribution routes, in order to deliver these resources to the different charity headquarters in the Community of Madrid.
This solidarity initiative is added to the agreement signed by both parties to provide special logistical coverage in campaigns such as “The Great Food Collection” or in the receipt of stock by the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD), which takes place three times a year.
Furthermore, this collaboration is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of the Global Compact of which Tranfesa Logistics is a member. In this specific case with SDG 2, Hunger 0, which seeks to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.
