Transportes Ferroviarios Especiales (Transfesa) is an international group with headquarters in Madrid. It was founded in 1943 and has developed its logistics services throughout the years to currently become one of the leaders in multimodal transport in Europe, offering all services within the logistics chain. Transfesa has 1,125 employees and, in 2006, the turnover of the company reached 290 million euros.

Transfesa has become one of the major pan-European logistics operators, developing its presence in Europe by establishing subsidiary companies in several European countries (Portugal, France, England, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, and Germany), diversifying services, and expanding the Group structure through organic growth. The group has also enhanced its European presence by acquiring stakes in existing companies in the logistics field.

Transfesa is an integrated logistics operator for some of the most demanding sectors in the European industry which need to transport large volumes of freight safely and with regularity. It mainly uses railways for long distance transport and road for final delivery, relying on its network of warehouses for the consolidation and distribution of goods. During 2006, 76.1% of the freight was carried out by railways and the remaining 23.9% by road.

In recent years, the company has strengthened its presence in the automobile sector (finished vehicles as well as parts and components) due to the management of the whole logistics chain and the introduction of new value-added services. For this purpose, it uses all accessible means, including its own and subcontracted resources. Its activity is also growing in other sectors, such as chemical products, bio fuel, cereals, granular products, steel industry, electrical appliances, and industrial goods in general.
